Teodorica Fortunato, a.k.a. Cheody’s volunteer work expands over two decades to numerous government agencies as well as civic, religious, social and professional organizations. She has gained the reputation of being a community organizer, where she has received various prestigious awards along the way. Using her advocacy tools and persuasion led her way in fostering social and economic development in her community.
Being a business owner herself, she has made further advances promoting small business interests through local organizations, clubs and communities. Today, she is a proud Farmers Insurance and Financial Broker where “excellent customer service” has been and always be the hallmark of her company. Her daily routine encapsulate how she has been living her life, service to others and making a difference in everyone she touches – a legacy to leave behind!

She is also a Real Estate Professional for the last 3 decades providing service to her Circle of Friends, Relatives and families. Her clients love her and they become her extended families!
Academically, she holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration, graduating top of her class. In her college years, she served as a Reporter representing local colleges and universities. She gathers, research and reports current events in radio stations. Mainly to keep students abreast with relevant information such as contests, awards, symposiums, reunions, sports, grants, etc.
As a Board Member of Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce of Orange County “FACCOC” she was awarded one of the best green innovation solution Green/Conservation and Health Exposition. This effort brought awareness to corporate America in recycling, mostly paper goods in offices with the use of “green” plastic containers.
Noteworthy of sharing Cheody was also was also a Board Member for Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce for two years. Her contribution was greatly appreciated and recognized as one of the successful business organizations in OC establishing relationships with business minded entrepreneurs along with government officials and their agencies.
In 2008, she sponsored a local club and produced a show called “A Night to Remember” where super talented singers performed in-front of their friends and families. And for the first time, these singers had their performance of a lifetime, and indeed, it was “A Night to Remember”!
Cheody holds various religious organization positions both present and past. She was a member of St. Pius V Pastoral Council, Pro-Life volunteer, Grieving Group and a Catechist for over seven years.
She served as Election Inspector for six-term for the Orange County Election Board, simply put “serve with passion”.
She was PTA Super Volunteer at her kids’ schools. She also became her school junior reporter during her college years where she became pretty popular in her local radio stations.
In her City of La Palma, she was the Co-Chairperson for Community Activities and Beautification Committee. She then chaired the Concert in the Park where attendance rose to over 30% over the previous years. She also chaired the Home Spotlight committee as well as Tree Lighting, Arbor Day, etc.
Currently, she is the President of FILAM Tarlac Association. One of FILAM’s mission is to connect and nurture relationships with Filipino Americans in USA especially those who hailed from and around the province of Tarlac.
Her leadership and emphasis striving for personal growth have been instrumental to the success of its officers and members of her organization. Her energy and commitment she brings to the table has been nothing but inspirational to all.
But out of all these, what she holds dear to her heart is her family and friends…just being around them is priceless! Her first born is her daughter Michelle Ann, now married to Christopher Kelemen blessed with two beautiful children Everly June, 2 years old and Wade Christopher 6 moth old. Michelle works for Delta Dental as Marketing Manager and Chris is a Special Ed Teacher, they’re homeowner lives in Fullerton.
Cheody’s 2nd child is Kurt Daniel Fortunato, 28 years old, an Aerospace Engineer currently the Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Lockheed Martin. Still a Bachelor, he occasionally flies a small plane which became his hobby early on.
Cheody lost her 1st husband from cancer 2/18/13 from cancer and she has since remarried last 9/5/20 to James Dale McLuckey a retired Aerospace Executive from Yorba Linda.
Cheody came from a family of eight, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She was 3rd from the youngest. In 1981, she joined the rest of her siblings in Anaheim, California. She was an immigrant from the Philippines through her dad’s veteran’s P1 status a US Army Sergeant
Her dad, was an Aeronautical Engineer by profession but a US Army Veteran who served under General McArthur and was a prisoner of war. He also served in the Vietnam War for 4 years. He passed away in 1999, he was 75 years old and was given a “7-gun salute” by the US Army of America.
Cheody lost her mom Abel due to old age last 5/21/18 is caring for her mom Abel. She loves life and everything about it, always looking for a new day to explore the greatest possibilities of what life brings to her doorsteps.
